Preparation
These instructions require that you follow them *exactly*. You also must have the following things:
The original WarCraft III CD ROM
All patches of War3
1.01b (Click Here)
1.02 (Click Here) or automatically installed as per below by loggin into b.net)
Installation
1: First, start with a clean install of WarCraft III. Normally,
it goes into your "C:\Program Files\WarCraft III" directory.
You can choose a different directory, but I will refer to this
as the "War3 Directory" from here out.
2: Next, install the 1.01b patch
3: Now comes the fun. Create a directory called "v101" in your War3 Directory.
In this directory, place copies of the following files
which are in your War3 Directory: GAME.DLL, STORM.DLL, WAR3PATCH.MPQ, WAR3.EXE
4: Using Notepad.exe, create a file called RUNWAR3.BAT in this v101 directory.
In this file copy and paste the following commands. Note, when saving this file from notepad,
put quotations around the filename like this "RUNWAR3.BAT"

REM Run this version of WarCraft III
copy *.dll ..
copy *.exe ..
copy *.mpq ..
cd ..
war3.exe
5: NOTE: If you wish to use the custom hotkeys (highly recommended) - install
them *prior* to installing 1.02 patch!
6: Now, login to Battle.net to upgrade to version 1.02. Exit War3 after you login.
7: Create a directory called "v102" in your War3 Directory.
Copy the same files as before from your War3 Directory (see step 3 above).
Also, copy that exact RUNWAR3.BAT file into your 102 directory.
8: Lastly, create shortcuts which run (War3 Directory)\v101\RUNWAR3.BAT
and (War3 Directory)\v102\RUNWAR3.BAT. Then you can easily switch between versions.
*** You need to create shortcuts to run the different versions of War3.
For example, to create a shortcut on your desktop do the following:
1: Minimize all your windows so you are looking at your desktop
2: Right click somewhere on your desktop (not on any icon) and pick "New" then pick "Shortcut"
3: Click "Browse" and find the batch file you had created in the v101 folder - for example: "C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\v101\RUNWAR3.BAT"
4: Click Next and give this short a name like "War3 v1.01"
Then you should have an icon on your desktop which will run version 1.01 of war3.
(Repeat these steps for v1.02).
